Fran was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 55 years, Charley, and is survived by her four children - Laura Peppard of Reno, NV, Charles (Chuck) Jehle of San Luis Obispo, CA, Linda Jehle of Arvada, CO and Anne Kosanovich of Oceanside, CA - five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Fran was born in Brooklyn, New York on October 7, 1925, the daughter of Adolf Schor and Gussie Schor (ne Weiss). She was the youngest of five children and the first to attend and graduate from college. She received her nursing degree from Adelphi College in New York in 1945 and her Bachelor of Science degree from there in 1947. Fran married Charles “Charley” John Jehle on August 3, 1950. Charley's work brought them and the children to So. Calif. in 1964. Fran worked for a short period of time as an emergency room nurse and the remainder of her career as a school nurse. After a 38 year career in nursing she retired from the Saddleback Valley Unified School District in Calif. in 1983. During her working years she pursued a nurse practitioner license from UC San Diego in Child Health and was certified as a nurse practitioner in March of 1986.
Fran was a kind and forbearing woman who always wanted the best for those she loved. Her sense of humor came through at exactly the right moments and her life's philosophy was to “kill ʻem with kindness” when someone did something unkind towards her or her loved ones. One of the ways she gave to those she loved was to cook them delicious meals and have a welcoming dinner table where there was always room for one more plate. She will be greatly missed by all.
Memorial service and Jewish burial were held at Eternal Hills Mortuary in Oceanside, Calif. on May 9, 2014.
