It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Francisco Villanueva Parra, lovingly known to all as Don Pancho, who passed away on May 15, 2025, at the age of 95, surrounded by his cherished family.
Born on June 20, 1929, in Rosario, Nayarit, Mexico, Francisco was one of seven children in a tight-knit family. His humble beginnings shaped the man he would become—a loving father, devoted husband, respected community member, and a source of joy and laughter to all who knew him.
Francisco married the love of his life, Antonia S. Parra, on December 20, 1957, and they spent 58 wonderful years together. They raised a family rooted in love and faith. After immigrating to the United States, Francisco worked tirelessly to support his family and proudly became a U.S. citizen in 1998. Together with his wife, he built a successful flower cultivation business in Encinitas, California, later expanding to Vista, where they made their permanent home.
Don Pancho’s passion for helping others knew no bounds. With his wife, he co-founded a charity organization that for over 32 years supported orphanages and the less fortunate in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. Through their work, over 100 volunteers were able to provide tons of food, blankets, toys, and other essential donations, spreading hope and compassion throughout the community.
He was a beloved figure at his local church, frequently participating in various activities and hosting Bible studies. Francisco’s laughter was infectious, and he was known for his great sense of humor and for the nicknames he gave everyone. Whether you were a family member, friend, or acquaintance, it was impossible not to feel his warmth and his joy. Don Pancho’s presence brightened every room he entered.
Francisco was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Antonia S. Parra, and their son, Francisco Javier Parra. He is survived by his six daughters: Maria Parra, Laura Lomeli, Leticia Parra, Angelica Lopez, Lorena Ibarra, and Sofia Eckert; 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members, all of whom will miss him dearly.
Don Pancho’s life was defined by his deep love for his family, his work ethic, his faith, and his unwavering generosity. His legacy of kindness, service, and laughter will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew him.
Rest in peace, Don Pancho. Your journey on this earth may have ended, but your spirit will live on in our hearts forever.
