My Mom, Glenda T. Carroll, was born in San Angelo Texas December 12th 1936 sister of Jessica, Bob, Jerry and Richard McMinn. She lived between the states of Texas and Southern California as a young girl until about the age of 16.
She then made the state of California her home with her family and grandparents, aunts and uncles. She attended Bell High School where she met her future husband John and in 1956 was crowned Miss Huntington Park on the cities 50th anniversary. She was so beautiful!
On June 8th of 1957 she married my father, John, and worked at the phone company until 1961 when she had me, her son Steven. Becoming a mother and homemaker was her most important interest and hobby but it was more than that…it was her passion.
Besides her marriage and having a son her next greatest chapter was becoming a Grand mommy to Josh and Spencer, her grandsons. Oh and family, she loved her family and kept everyone connected.
Her favorite things where good movies, Elvis music, reading books, gardening and having her family and friends around and we all know she really loved her Elvis music.
She loved to entertain family and friends and wanted to have them enjoy themselves as much as she was. Her kindness and thoughtfulness was second to none and it was so transparent. She never left out any detail to the event or to the person or persons and always made it special in her own way.
When it came to traveling, boy did she do some traveling with my dad, her favorite trip was to Egypt to the pyramids among a list of many foreign countries here and abroad. She also enjoyed all the travel she did within the United States. She loved going to see the fall colors, national parks, historical locations and not of course Graceland. Not to mention all of the trips that I, her grand kids, relatives and friends were so fortunate to have been included in with her, like the countless trips to the Colorado River, Lake Havasu, Lake Powell, Lake Tahoe and Maui.
She enjoyed waterskiing, boating, jet skiing, horseback riding and those are just a few active activities, the list can go on. She also donated her time as a volunteer at the Long Beach Naval hospital when we lived in Long Beach. She was active in the Lioness and Women’s Clubs at Canyon Lake.
One thing is for sure that my mom, wife, grand mommy, sister and friend will be greatly missed and the memories of her life and love are etched into the people that were so blessed to know her and be a part of her amazing life.
Love you Mom, Steve
