Helen Elaine Newell

Helen was born in Clearwater, Fla on Jan 12,1924. She graduated from Clearwater High School in 1941 and received training in Cosmetology in San Diego. She owned Helen's Beauty Shop on Lexington Dr in Vista where she worked as a hairdresser for many years.

She was married to Eugene E. Walker until 1981; then married Warren H. Newell in 1983. She lived in Vista for 60+ years; the last 2 years of her life she lived at Somerford Place in Redlands. She was a member of the North Coast Christian Fellowship of Seventh Day Adventists in Carlsbad.

Helen was a very friendly, social person who enjoyed time with family and friends, church activities, and traveling with husband Warren. She loved flowers and enjoyed spending time in her yard and orchid garden. She loved music, hymns and gospel.

She is preceded in death by husband, Warren Newell in 2003, parents, brothers, sister, grandson Corey.

She is survived by her children: Genie Postma, Edward Walker, and Debbie Walker and her step children: Jeanne Ross, Warren Newell, Jr. and Wesley Newell, Grandchildren: Kirsten, Jason, Ryan, Ashley, Chelsea, Brenda, Robyn, Lannie, and Lance 10 great grandchildren and more step great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.

Memorial/Celebration of Life service will be held on March 1, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Eternal Hills Memorial Park in Oceanside.

The long,courageous journey with Alzheimer's Disease has ended and our dear Mom, Helen, is now at rest and peace. We cherish the good times and the many memories that we have. We are grateful for her love and generosity, and feel very blessed to have had her in our lives. She lived a full life of 90 years and 1 month! Mother, Grandmother, "Grammy Helen", Aunt, Great Aunt and Friend: WE LOVE YOU and MISS YOU! REST IN PEACE!
