

Born and raised in Three Rivers, Texas, Herman joined the United States Marine Corps in 1951. He retired a Master Sergeant in 1975 after 24 years of services. A decorated combat veteran, Herman served tours in both Korea and Vietnam. His decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal with ‘V’ Device for Valor. Herman was also awarded the Purple Heart for combat injuries sustained during his service in Vietnam. In his younger years he was a Golden Glove Boxer for the Marine Corps.
Following his service in the Marines, Herman joined the civil service on Camp Pendleton retiring in 1995.
He remained active in the community throughout retirement volunteering with the Order of the Alhambra to enhance the quality of life for developmentally disabled persons. Herman was also a parishioner at Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside, CA for over 50 years.
He was the loving husband of Violet Martin Mosqueda, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage.
His five children – Donna McCormick, Cindy Montgomery, Michael Mosqueda, Anthony Mosqueda and Andrew Mosqueda – in addition to 20 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, also survive Herman.
The viewing will take place at Eternal Hills Mortuary on November 16th. A memorial mass will be held at Mission San Luis Rey in the Sierra Center on November 17th. The burial will follow at Eternal Hills Cemetery.
