Jacinda Noela Godinet

Jacinda was born, May 13, 1952 in American Samoa to Vaeua Ilasa and Pafuti Tupuola, the 3rd of 9 children. As a military family, they moved from American Samoa, to Hawaii, to California, finally setting and planting roots in Oceanside, CA. in 1957.

Jacinda enjoyed growing up in Oceanside. She soften spoke of walking through the city, snacking on fruits along the vast stretch of land growing during those simpler times. She fondly reminisced on both good and bad times with her siblings; hard and heartfelt moments with her parents.

Jacinda attended school in Oceanside also, Laurel Elementary, Jefferson Jr. High and Oceanside High School. Respectively although she’d finish and graduated high school in Hawaii. Jacinda would receive her bachelor’s degree later in life. (After raising her family)

On September 19, 1970 at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea, Jacinda married the love of her life, Michael I. Godinet,

who she met while he was visiting family in Oceanside.

Jacidna worked for PACBELL/ AT&T. She started as a telephone operator and worked her way up through the ranks. As process and procedures operations manager for collections, Jacinda was responsible for drawing up a manual for all of the West Coast.

In 2006 after 30 years Jacinda retired.

Jacinda had an immense love for faith and family, she loved god and believed in his plan for her. She attended mass regularly and would faithfully pray for her loved ones and recite her rosary.

Jacinda was very close to her daughters. She spent a lot of her off time travelling to visit where ever they were at the time. Tennessee, Georgia, Ohio, Minnesota, Nebraska, Utah, Arizona, Italy, American Samoa and Oceanside. No place was too far. Jacinda enjoyed making and seeing her grandchildren happy, she loved watching them grow. They were heart.

Jacinda’s siblings were a constant in her life. Through the good and bad times, the shared laughs and tears were genuine, supporting one another through thick and thin, they were best friends.

Jacinda is proceded in death by her husband Mike, parents, Vaeua and Pafuti, and her 2 brothers Paulsa and Wiliiam.

Jacinda is survived by her daughters, Michele (David) Conway, Marie (Joe) Tuise’e, Pautonu (John) Drenckpohl and Antonia (Ekueta ) Schuster, 13 grandchildren, her sisters, Koleka, Akenesa, Rita and Salle, and her brothers Peter and Vaeua Jr.

Jacinda’s family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to those who have reached out and continue to reach out with acts of kindness and sympathy, during this time of extreme sorrow and bereavement.
