Uncle John’s wit and dry humor were delightful. I can see his smile and hear him laughing. He delighted in growing fruit trees, tomatoes, and more, and we enjoyed talking about gardening challenges and triumphs. I love and miss him.

I ran out of room in that last memory.
My Uncle John was very sharp and had that New York quickness of thought and he also reminded me of my Mom and my Grandparents on that Fenimore side of the family. We are praying and sending all of our Love to our Aunt Julliette, who is an amazing , strong person , who Loved/Loves  my Uncle and her children in such an exemplary way. We also  are praying and sending all of our love to Aunt Juliette and Uncle John’s grown children and their spouses and children -Jean and John Tucker and Tina and Doug Robinson. Our hearts are aching as we have lost a such a foundational member of the family.

Our Uncle John was also my God Father. He was around  when each of us Patitucci kids were born,  as he was my Mom’s younger brother. When all of us lived together in the same house in Brooklyn in the 1960’s , it was  Uncle John , Aunt Juliette, Jean and Tina and my parents George and Joan, my brother Thomas, and sisters , Renee, Joanie and Mary Ellen. It was such a close family connection and we shared life together for those years. Then we all moved to Long Island and lived around the corner from each other . Then in the  early 1970’s we all went to Northern California and later  Southern California. 
I loved my Uncle John’s dry wit , sarcastic humor and I appreciated that he would call me to see how i was doing regularly after i grew up and moved away from parents. He was always concerned and also proud of how things turned out for me. I cannot remember a time without my Uncle John . He was also the last link to my Mom , who died in 1999. 

I don't know if Tom or John coined it, but we always called him "Jicka John" as kids.

I loved visiting and walking through his amazing garden, listening to him affectionately describe the plants and what was needed to keep them flourishing. He clearly derived huge joy by being creative in this way! And I certainly knew who to call for advice when my first attempt at growing tomatoes was unfortunately ending with blight!

I loved his dry sense of humor, a trait he shared with Gramps and my Mom. 

I love you, Uncle John, and I will miss hearing your voice on the phone.
We prayed for God's presence and peace when you were ill, and because of His love for you, will trust that He answered even in the midst of that incredibly difficult time.

I'll try planting tomatoes again and it will be just one of the ways I will remember and be thankful for Uncle John!!
