

Our cherished father, John William Mueller, passed away peacefully at his home Tuesday morning, May 24, 2011 joining Faith, his beloved wife of 69 years, who had preceded him in death the previous year.
He is survived by his son, John W. Mueller II and daughter-in-law Carolyn Mueller of Niceville, Florida; daughter, Karen Perry of Oceanside; and daughter Anne Sims.
He is also survived by six grandchildren, Kyle (Janet) Mueller, Ryan Mueller, Cheryl (Mike) Merlock, Eric (Elvira) Perry, Tamara (Darrin) Moreman and Heather Sims, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him deeply.
John was preceded in death by his sister Alice Mae Mueller Sad.
He was born on a family homestead in 1917 and graduated from the University of Nebraska with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. Following military service in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during WW II, John worked for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation where he worked his way up to become Chief of Power for the Department of Interior.
In 2002, John and Faith moved to Oceanside to fulfill Faith's wish to one day live near the ocean. During their years in California, they enjoyed playing golf and spending time with family and loved ones. In 2006, John and Faith celebrated their 65th anniversary with many family members and friends at their side.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, June 18, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church, 2001 S El Camino Real, Oceanside, California. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the University of Nebraska Foundation in Honor of the John W. Mueller Excellence Fund, 1010 Lincoln Mall, #300, Lincoln, NE 68508.
