John Davis Parks, born March 25, 1941. He was son of David and Clora Lee Parks, born in New Albany, MS, raised in Pittsburgh, PA and resided in Oceanside, CA for more than 20 years, where he was laid to rest on February 1, 2024.
John grew up in Pittsburgh's north side of town. He graduated from high school and worked various jobs including the steel mills and Rockwell International engineering department. Working at Rockwell peeked his interest in engineering. Later he went on to continue his education and attend college. He received his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. While attending the university, he became a lifelong Pitt Panther fan! He was also a loyal Steeler fan, even though he lived in California.
While working and doing his studies he managed to also find love! He met his soulmate, Janet Hurley! John graduated, married Jan and moved to California. In California, John provided a good life for himself and Janet. He had a long standing career at IBM as an electrical engineer.
In his younger years, he enjoyed the outdoors, camping, bicycling, going to the beach, traveling and raising his 9 Dobermann Pinchers. His dogs brought him so much joy! He entered some of them into dog shows where they became show champions. In addition to his Dobermann’s he also became fast friends with the neighbor's Chihuahua, named Peanuts! Peanuts enjoyed visiting on a daily basis and John would take him for walks and Peanuts loved sitting on his lap afterwards.
John was also a dedicated and loving father to his daughter, Antoinette Blake Piso from his first wife. They stayed connected even after his divorce. When she graduated from high school, he invited her to come live in California with him and Janet to attend college. It was a life changing experience and she will always be grateful the opportunity, time, love and memories she had with her Dad.
John was a responsible big brother to his siblings. Always giving advice to help keep them on track and helping when he could.
John D. Parks will be remembered as a kind, caring, loving person who believed in our lord and savior that always prayed for his friends and loved ones near and far.
He will truly be missed by his family and friends.
