Joseph, 91 years, passed away Nov. 13th after a short battle with cancer. Joe was born in Mpls. the oldest of 12. He married Jane (Jackie) Zgodava in 1946 and made a career of the Marine Corps. He is a veteran of WWII, Korea, and Vietnam earning the purple heart on Peleliu. After retiring he worked for the City of Oceanside for a number of years. He was an excellent handyman and volunteered his services at the San Luis Rey Mission and throughout his neighborhood. He was an avid fisherman and spent every summer in Minnesota at his sister, Theresa's cabin fishing with family and friends. He is survived by his daughter Marijane (Carl) Moon, grandson Michael J. Moon, grand-daughter Rebecca (Stephen) Barth and great grandsons Dorian and Spencer. Sisters Betty (Paul) Krueger (MN) Eleanor Bateman (VA) Theresa Ream (ILL) and numerous nieces and nephews. A special thank you goes to his nieces Marianne Schamp (San Diego) and Sheila Polak (Mpls) for their long devotion and kindness to their Uncle Joe.
Services will be Thursday, Nov 21 at 10 am, Eternal Hills Mortuary, Oceanside, CA with later internment at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery joining his wife Jackie.
