Joyce I. Call of Oceanside, CA, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026, at the age of 96. Born in London, England, on April 3, 1929, to Robert and Lilian Woodcock, Joyce brought a spirit of resilience and kindness with her when she made her home in California.
Joyce was a familiar and beloved face within the Oceanside Unified School District, where she dedicated 30 years of her life as an Instructional Aide. Her patience and commitment touched the lives of countless students over three decades.
Outside of her professional life, Joyce found her greatest peace in her garden and her greatest joy in her family. Whether she was tending to her plants or sharing stories with her grandchildren, her presence was a source of constant warmth and strength.
Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Warden Call; her parents; and her siblings: Lilian Desforges, Bernard Woodcock, Muriel Spiller, and Phillip Woodcock.
Her legacy lives on through her devoted family:
● Children: Britton (Kathleen) Call, Brian (Esther) Call, Kristina Call, and Preston (Wendy) Call.
● Grandchildren: Jessica Hernandez, Kimberly (Bruce) Dishneau, Katelyn Call, Spencer Call, and Alexander Call.
● Great-Grandchild: Dakota Dishneau.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the care team at Hospice of the North Coast for the compassionate and professional support provided during Joyce’s final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Joyce’s honor to Hospice of the North Coast, ensuring others receive the same gentle care she did.
