Lodema N. Bruin

Lodema Nell Bruin, age 83, passed away peacefully May 18, 2019 at her home in Vista, California surrounded by loved ones. Lodema was born January 12, 1936 in Cloud Chief, Oklahoma to Jesse and Leila Sturgeon. Shortly after she moved to Colorado finally settling in Klamath Falls, OR where she would grow up surrounded by her five brothers and two sisters. She moved to Reedly, California at the age of 16 and later to Vista, California. She graduated from Vista High School in 1954. She would later find herself in Reno, NV where she met the love of her life Hendrick Bruin. They married and the Air Force moved them to Texas and Florida before settling in Morristown, N.J. They raised their four wonderful children in Hopatcong, N.J before moving west in 1979. In 1979, they moved their teenage children to Vista, California allowing their youngest to graduate from her alma mater. Lodema was a staple of the community retiring from Pacific Bell and later retiring from Bobier Elementary at the age of 80 as yard duty. She touched the lives of many children. Lodema lived life to the fullest and enjoyed every minute, from traveling to see grandchildren, to enjoying a trip to Disneyland on her 80th birthday, to making sure she saw the latest movies at Cineopolis. She is proceeded in death by her husband Hendrick Bruin; her mother, Layla and father Jesse; her brothers, Allen, Leland, Leonard, Harold and Howard, and her sisters, Eldina and Regina. She is survived by her children, Henry (Cindy) of Green Bay, WI, Randy of Denville, N.J., Dennis (Hilke) of San Marcos, CA and Cindy (Lex) of Vista, CA; her grandchildren, Dennis (Julia), Daniel (Rachel), Elizabeth (Matt), Alex, Austin (Mike), Kyle (Nathan), Kendal, Krista (Mary), June, Kelly, and Kimberly; her great grandchildren, Denny, Miles, Tyler (Alexandra), Shawn (Katie), Rebekah (Caleb), Maggie, Corey, Landon, Makaylah, Cameron, Brandon, Ethan, Hailey, Aubrey, and Finley; her great great grandchildren, Bruin and Macy.
