Maria Dolores “Dali” (Trejo) Moreno – Dali was an amazing woman that loved God, her family, music, dancing, and singing. She always had a song in her lips. At every wedding she would be the first one on the dancing floor dancing to one of her favorites: Mambo #5. She was a loving wife to Chuck Moreno, her “Lovey”, a devoted mom to Deanna, her “Nana”, and a guiding light to her brothers and sisters. She was respected, admired, and loved by all that knew her.
Dali’s story began on December 3, 1959, the second oldest child to Peter Joe Trejo and Maria (Zendejas) Trejo. She was born in Tijuana, Baja California. In September 1972, together with her parents and seven brothers and sisters, they moved to La Colonia de Eden Garden, Solana Beach. Dali graduated from Torrey Pines High School in 1978 and was proud to be a Falcon.
Shortly after graduating High School, Dali went to work for the Chicano Federation, where she met one of her best friends, Yolanda Moreno. Yolanda introduced Dali to her brother Chuck, and Dali fell in love. She knew she had met the love of her life. They married in Las Vegas in 1995. Together they created a family when Deanna was born in 1992. They purchased a home in Oceanside. They filled it with love, (with lots and lots of Raider memorabilia), and made it a safe and loving home.
Dali will be remembered by her renowned potato and pasta salads. It was a favorite of many of her nieces and nephews. No holiday gathering was complete without her salads, beautiful smile, and special hugs and kisses. She will also be remembered by her no-nonsense personality and unique life-skill advice.
In July 2013, Dali was able to enjoy a special Maui vacation with her husband and daughter. Together they created beautiful and unforgettable memories while enjoying one of God’s beautiful islands. On many occasions, Dali would recall the beautiful smells of the island, the warmth of the ocean water, and the beautiful cascades.
After 35 years of service, Dali retired as a Payroll Specialist from Motherload Bookkeeping. Her decision to retire in March of 2021 was to be able to enjoy family time and enjoy the final stages of planning Deanna’s wedding. Deanna will be able to hold dear to her heart the fact that Dali was present when together, they chose the perfect wedding gown.
Loved ones that cleared the path to heaven for Dali are her father Peter Joe Trejo (1999), and her mother Maria Trejo (1980). Loved ones that will miss Dali until they meet again are her husband Chuck Moreno; her daughter Deanna; her sisters Martha (Trejo) Conrey and Maria Guadalupe “Mia” Trejo, and her sister Dionicia “Nicha” (Trejo) Dzwigalski and brother-in-law Chris Dzwigalski; her brother Pete Trejo and sister-in-law Soledad Trejo, brothers Daniel Trejo, David Trejo, and Longinos “Kinos” Trejo and sister-in-law Patty Trejo as well as her 18 nieces and nephews.
Dali passed away suddenly on March 25, 2021 at the age of 61 in Oceanside, CA. Viewing on Wednesday, April 21st at Eternal Hills from 4 – 8 pm. Services will be held at St. Patrick Church in Carlsbad, CA at 10:00 AM on April 22nd, with interment to follow at Eternal Hills in Oceanside, CA.
