Michael Chris Anneler was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to parents B.C. and Imogene Anneler. After moving around a bit, the family settled in Lake Arrowhead, California, and he graduated from San Bernardino High School prior to enlisting in the Navy. Upon his return from service with his young wife and new baby, he lived in various cities in southern California including Oceanside, 29 Palms (where he added another daughter), San Marcos, and Escondido. He received his Associate Arts Degree from Palomar College in 1975. In 1993, he returned to his birthplace to live until his return to Oceanside in July of 2010. His passing occurred on January 6, 2011.
Mike experimented with many different jobs throughout the course of his life. He was a gas station attendant, a projectionist in a movie theater, a lab technician for the City of Escondido, an exterminator, home health care provider for mentally challenged adults, and ultimately retired as a disabled veteran.
Those who knew him were touched by his sense of humor and fondness for a good joke. He attracted friends with his kindness, laughter, and easygoing spirit. He had a sense of adventure that lasted throughout his life, most often experienced from the seat of a Harley Davidson motorcycle. He loved great food, cooking (he was a barbeque connoisseur), the latest technological gadgets, O.U. football, good coffee, his big red Chevy Avalanche, phone calls with his best friend Steve, time spent with friends and especially family, and above all, his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He is remembered by his two daughters, Kami Callahan and Chrissy Brooks, son-in-law, Adam Brooks, four grandchildren, Tyler and Casey Callahan and Jacob and Alyssa Brooks, two sisters, Melody McDonald and Diane Courtney, cousin Steve Anneler, and numerous other relatives and friends.
