Mitchell "Mitch" Caughron was born on August 2, 1960, in San Luis Obispo, California, to George Harold Caughron and JoAn Helms. Mitch grew up with a great talent and passion for football and boxing. After graduating from high school Mitch chose to serve his country and was a proud Marine. He became the Marine Corps Boxing Champion and was on the the 1980 US Olympic Boxing Team. After serving his country Mitch attended the University of Tulsa on a football scholarship. His time at Tulsa launched him into the NFL draft where he was chosen to play for the Seattle Seahawks. Mitch was a big Elvis Presley and Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved music and movies and he was a Trivia Wiz! Though he was very talented at many different things, his greatest accomplishments were being a loving husband and being the absolute best father to his step son and his girls.
Mitch passed away on July 7, 2018, in La Jolla, California. He went peacefully and was surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda; his children, Steven, Shelby and Morgan; his granddaughter, Leilani; his sister, Patricia; many loving nieces and nephews; and many more family members, and friends.
A viewing will be held on Monday, July 16, 2018, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm, at Eternal Hills Mortuary Chapel, in Oceanside. A celebration of Mitch's life will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at 10am, at Eternal Hill Mortuary Chapel followed by a committal service with military honors.
