Myrna Zelle Thaxton or as her grandkids called her ‘Memo’, 78, of Vista, California passed away on April 1, 2023. While she suffered with more medical challenges than one should be dealt, she enjoyed life to the fullest.
Myrna spent her career in Public Relations, in Forestry where she could continually use her gift of gab. If you knew Myrna, you knew she was never short of words. She was most proud of her three children and would share stories with anyone who would listen. Actually, they didn’t have to listen… she would just share. Myrna is remembered for her love of her family, her ability to never meet a stranger, and making people smile. It was a better life for those of us who got to call Myrna our daughter, sister, wife, mother, Memo, and friend.
Myrna was born in Florida, in August 1944, daughter of the late Henry Candler and Luverne (Hancock) Thaxton. She was raised in Pensacola, Florida, and settled in Texas to raise her children. When Myrna retired from Champion International Paper, she loved camping, hiking, collecting rocks, and pinecones. After retirement she lived in both Vista, California and Eureka Springs, Arkansas to be close to her children and grandchildren.
Myrna was preceded in death by her parents Candler and Luverne Thaxton and her brother Kent Thaxton. She is survived by her brother Art Thaxton, 3 children Larry Waggoner, Traci Corp, and Ricky Waggoner, her 7 grandchildren Aaron, Morgan, Ryan, Sairah, Winona, Violet, and Indigo and 2 great grandchildren Azariah and Asher.
Services will be private and in lieu of flowers, our mom would have one wish… share family stories and hug your children.
