Rest in Peace Dad. Enjoy your birthday with mom. It was a wonderful send off with the taps and the folding of the flag and a nice ceremony. I would like to thank my sister Christine for being there with him in California and for making all of the arrangements and putting together the lovely slide show.

Dear John, Ed, and Christine, We are saddened by the news of your Dad's passing. Rich and I were partners at the DPW for many years and we always worked well together. We are sorry we didn't get to make the trip we planned to California last year to see your Dad. We will always remember his hearty laugh and big smile.

A man of honor & integrity; respected by all. He was a strong man like my own father; whom we lost +/- 17yrs ago.
Richard, whom I was proud to call him "dad" always gave me respect, no matter how much we disagreed. There are so few MEN left in this world; WHAT A PLEASURE IT WAS TO BREATHE THE AIR AROUND HIM!

There will be an empty seat, and an extra beer at the table.   Will miss Richard laughter at our gathering and events.   RIP, but knowing Richard he is dancing to Jimmy Stur in heaven.

Christine, What a great set of pictures. You can tell it was Richard from his eyes, even from a young boy. So glad we had the privilege of knowing him, we will all miss him at all our family gatherings. Was just thinking how glad you must be that he moved close to you these past several years, it was a gift to you from God. Something to always cherish and be greatful for. We we;re so sorry to here of the passing of Richard,and want you and your Family to know we will be keeping all of you in Pray at this time. He was quite the fellow, and a very friendly man. I personally appreciated his friendship, and enjoyed our time together.We had some great times going fishing together,and was thankful for the fishing boat trip he took us on, with my brothers. Richard was a great guy to hang with.. we had a good time on July 4th, eating all the BBQ and fixings that the girls brought out. We just kept eating... a lot. He is so easy to talk with and bounce things off, he had great advise on things. We always enjoyed him coming to the family parties, especially at Christmas. He was a lot of fun. He was so pleasant, we will miss him.

Your Dad was so cool, he was a personable guy, friendly... I just liked him... he was a nice guy... We enjoyed having him over the house. He always laughed and I enjoyed hearing his laugh... He really was a hit for Christmas when played Santa Claus and let the kids get on his lap and say what they wanted. We will miss him.

You were an amazing man and the life of the party, I will miss your laugh. I am a better person for having known you.

 It has been some time since I used to see Rich at the New Milford N Y deli and we would compare notes on "old men" recollections. I really enjoyed those times since at one time I worked in Bergen County NJ and that was where Rich worked.
 After Rich moved to California and was near daughter Christine, who took such good care of him, our contact was at Christmas. 
I will miss being able to stay in contact with him as that nostalgic contact was a high light of the Christmas season for me.
I'm sure he is glad to be with Marion again.

We will always remember Richard with his joyful laugh attending our family get togethers. Richard would always participant in making the party more festive. I remember the year he dressed as Santa to have the grandkids sit on his lap and tell â€œSantaâ€ what they wanted for Christmas and a photo. My daughter, not quit two at the time, screamed and cried when she saw this white bearded man in a red suit reaching out to have her sit on this lap. We did get the photo but, I was in it trying to pry her off my side on to Richards lapâ€¦We still look at the picture and laugh!
And the talks Richard and my husband, Doug, would have regarding football and my husband's coach when he was in high school. It ended up that Richard was friends with Doug's HS football coach-what a small world!
Richard will be truly missed from our family! The Palmer's
