Shirley Kambo Lahr of Vista, California passed away on April 24th with her family at her side. Shirley was born in Great Falls, Montana on April 16, 1930 to Andrew and Christine Kambo. She graduated from high school in 1948. Following her graduation she worked as a medical secretary.

Shirley married the love of her life, Jerry Lahr on November 15, 1952. She met Jerry in Great Falls where he was serving in the Air Force after returning from the Korean War. They were married for 64 years and were blessed with 7 children, 15 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.

Together with her husband Jerry, Shirley made a loving home for their children and grandchildren. She and her family lived in Lombard, Illinois until 1979, then moved to Vista, California. Shirley and Jerry enjoyed spending lots of time with their family at home and going on many family trips together.

In addition to raising her family, Shirley was a Cub Scout den mother, volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club of Vista, and was a member of The Woman’s Club of Vista. She was a former active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lombard, IL, and for the past 41 years, has been an active member of First Lutheran Church of Vista.

Family was extremely important to Shirley. She made sure that no holiday went uncelebrated and worked hard to ensure that the family remained close.

Shirley was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Jerry, her parents, her brothers Leroy, Clayton, Simon, and her sister Elsie. Shirley is survived by her children, Ken, Chris, Roger (Lisa), Sue Jemmi (Brian), Patti Walker (Norman), Jenny Cuyno (Jonathan), David (Patty), grandchildren Jason Lahr, Lindsey Sinde, Colleen Schmid, Zachary Cuyno, Patrick Jemmi , Victoria Lahr, Curtis Walker, Trevor Cuyno, Kelly Olsen, Shirley Lahr, Leanne Walker, Jane Jemmi, Katherine Lahr, Jackson Cuyno, Frances Lahr and great grandchildren Elizabeth Sinde and Michael Sinde.

Shirley will be laid to rest at Eternal Hills Memorial Park in Oceanside, California. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
