Therée Leigh Proffitt of Oceanside passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family and close friends at the young age of 51. She battled breast cancer in 2010 and went into remission until the cancer metastasized again in October 2017. Therée fought the battle hard, but on September 5, 2018, she took her last breath.
Born and raised in Escondido, she graduated from Escondido High School and attended San Diego State University for several years as a finance major. She later started working for the San Diego Credit Union becoming a Financial Service Specialist for nearly 20 years at the Encinitas branch. She developed skills in every department and was loved by her coworkers as well as many longtime customers. Therée’s outgoing personality and infectious laugh made her one of the friendliest human beings on Earth. She was someone everyone immediately liked and would easily create a lasting bond.
Therée’s simple love of life was always very positive. Family and close friends were very important to her. Some of her passions were traveling, zip lining, sandpipers, blue Hydrangeas, and walking on the beach with her dogs: Grady, Andy, and Jake. She strongly supported cancer research and the Animal Humane Society. A park bench at Maggie Houlihan Dog Park will be placed in memory of her.
Therée is survived by her father, Jerry Harmon, her two brothers, Dave and Beau Harmon, her boyfriend of 10 years, Jason Dumesnil, and her three stepchildren, Kyle, Dillon and Gavin Dumesnil. She will always be greatly missed and loved forever.
