Wilma M. Quisenberry, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted woman of faith, passed away peacefully in Oceanside CA on November 21, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on September 8, 1934, in Jersey City, New Jersey, Wilma grew up with a strong sense of determination and compassion—qualities that shaped both her life’s work and the family she cherished.
After completing nursing school in her early twenties, Wilma left New Jersey and began an extraordinary 40-year career as a registered nurse. Her work spanned hospitals and private care settings in Denver, San Francisco, Oahu, and numerous communities throughout California. Her patients and colleagues remembered her for her kindness, competence, and unwavering dedication to serving others.
In 1963, Wilma and her husband, the late Charlie Quisenberry, settled in Fallbrook, California, where they raised their growing family. What began as a household of two soon expanded to welcome seven children—each of whom was nurtured by Wilma’s love, resilience, and gentle strength. After Charlie’s passing in 1986, Wilma moved to Oceanside, California, where she continued to build a life centered on faith, family, and service.
A lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Wilma lived her faith with quiet devotion. She found great joy in her many years of service at the San Diego Mormon Temple, where she formed lasting friendships and felt spiritual fulfillment. Her spirit of service also carried over to her friends and neighbors. She helped many friends and neighbors if they were ill or needed help with transportation to doctor’s appointments and other needs.
Wilma had an adventurous spirit and passed that love of exploration on to her children. She and Charlie famously loaded all seven kids into their VW van—twice—driving cross-country from Fallbrook to New Jersey, creating treasured memories that her family still recounts with laughter and gratitude. She delighted in camping trips to San Onofre, the desert, the Grand Canyon, and countless KOA campgrounds across the United States, often bringing along extra friends and making every adventure feel like a grand expedition.
An avid swimmer, Wilma spent many hours swimming laps beyond the waves in Oceanside and Carlsbad—fearless and strong. In her later years, nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with her children, grand-children and great-grandchildren. She played an active, loving role in their lives, offering care, stability, and unconditional love.
Wilma is survived by her seven children and her 38 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom carries forward her legacy of faith, strength, humor, and love. She leaves behind a family forever shaped by her example and forever grateful for the years they shared with her.
We mourn the loss of a beautiful mother and matriarch, but we rejoice in knowing that God and the angels surely welcomed her home with joy. Her life was a testament to service, sacrifice, and faith—and her memory will remain a guiding light to all who loved her.
