Funeral services for Bessie L. Kelly, age 88 formerly of Rensselaer Falls, will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday (Mar 29, 2018) at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin O’Brien officiating. Her place of rest will be at Foxwood Memorial Park.
Calling hours will be held also on Thursday from 12:00pm until the time of the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Kelly passed away at St. Joseph’s Home in Ogdensburg.
Surviving are three children Raymond (Patty) Kelly of Rensselaer Falls, Allen (Mary) Kelly of Rensselaer Falls, Lida (James) Merrill of Rochester; grandchildren Charissa (Ryan) Moll of Rochester, Julia Pavia of Rochester, Kathrynn Merrill of Waterford, NY, Samuel Merrill of Kenosha, WI, Kellyanna Merrill of Rochester, Jackilyn Kelly of Ogdensburg, Jason (Krista) Kelly of Rensselaer Falls, Sean (Hayley) Kelly of Tennessee and Ryan Kelly of Rensselaer Falls; great-grandchildren Lilyanne, Joshua, Samuel, Natalie, Anastasia, Giselle, Lorien along with several nieces, nephews & cousins.
Her husband Allen Hugh Kelly; sisters Marion Towne, Edith (Hobbs) Smith, Lida Flack & Fern (Cutrie) Zimmerman and a brother Albert Towne predeceased her.
Bessie was born on February 26, 1930 in the town of DePeyster, a daughter of the late Raymond & Cecil (Gibbs) Towne. She attended Mud Lake & Hickory Lake District Schools for her education, and later married Allen H. Kelly on May 8, 1960 at St. Raphael’s Church in Heuvelton.
Bessie worked as a caregiver for several years prior to her marriage, and later raised her family and assisted her husband on the family farm. She was a member of St. Raphael’s Church, and enjoyed gardening, her dogs, tatting and baking the best pies and donuts ever.
Memorial contributions can be made to the March of Dimes Foundation, P.O. Box 673667 Marietta, GA 30006 in honor of supporting the polio vaccine and premature births.
