

A Memorial Mass for Carolyn “Ann” O’Grady, age 84 of 414 Albany Ave, Ogdensburg NY, will be held on Wednesday (February 4, 2015) at St. Mary’s Cathedral at 10:00am with Father F. James Shurtleff and Father Joseph Morgan and officiating. Burial will follow the service at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday (February 3, 2015) from 2:00-6:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Mrs. O’Grady passed away on Friday (January 30, 2015) at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Surviving are her eleven children, Colleen (Howard) Garcia, St. Albans, VT; Patricia O’Grady, Ogdensburg; Mary (Louis) Vitale, Long Island NY; Timothy (Angela) O’Grady, Ogdensburg; Michael O’Grady (Tisha Haynes), Ogdensburg; Ruth (Timothy) Rafferty, Ogdensburg; Erin (Tracy) Rabideau, Morrisonville NY; Susan (David) Badlam, Ogdensburg; John (Cindy) O’Grady, Ogdensburg; Kelly O’Grady, Ogdensburg; Maureen (Craig) Bentley, Ogdensburg; twenty-nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years Leon “Nig” O’Grady; her parents Capt. George and Ruth (Scott) Woods; her sisters Mary Scovel and Elizabeth Watts, and a brother John Woods.
Ann was born on August 14, 1930 in Ogdensburg, the daughter of Capt. George & Ruth (Scott) Woods. She attended St. Mary’s Academy, Mater Dei College and subsequently received a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Empire State College. She married Leon “Nig” O’Grady at St. Mary’s Cathedral on November 26, 1953.
She worked at A. Barton Hepburn Hospital, St. Lawrence County Lab; Carbino’s Jewelers and retired as a New York State employee in 1996.
Ann was a very loving mother who enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had various hobbies which included sewing, gardening, swimming, crossword puzzles, playing cards, reading, remodeling her home and visiting with friends.
Ann was a St. Mary’s Cathedral parishioner and a former member of the liturgy team. She designed and made many symbolic banners that adorned the church for special religious celebrations.
