

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home, with Rev. Rob Schirmer officiating. Entombment will follow at the Oswegatchie Mausoleum. Calling hours will be held from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on the same day.
He was predeceased by his wife, Pamela; his son, Michael; and his sister, Beatrice Bellinger.
Born on August 17, 1946, in Rensselaer Falls, Clayton was the son of Clayton and Verna (Strader) Trombly. He graduated from Heuvelton Central School and married Pamela Gushlaw on August 27, 1966, at St. Raphael's Church.
Clayton began his career as a farmer before becoming a maintenance supervisor for Ferro Corp (Hoosier Magnetics) and Barrett Paving. He later worked as a welder and fabricator at Baildon Manufacturing and eventually became the owner and operator of Clay’s Welding & Repair Shop until his retirement in 2006.
He enjoyed working, watching NASCAR, tinkering on projects, dining out with friends, and cherishing time spent with family.
Clayton is survived by his children: Lori (Kenneth) Hill of Heuvelton, Bryan Trombly of Ogdensburg, and Lee (Jenny) Trombly of New Jersey; his companion, Schelene Dibble of Rensselaer Falls; grandchildren Brittany (Justin) Peterson, Kaitlin Hill, Eric (Alicia) Trombly, Kyle Trombly, Sarah Trombly, Owen Trombly, Liam Trombly, Bridget Trombly, and Mindy Bell; great-grandchildren Emmett, Isaac, Wesley, and Brayden; a daughter-in-law Kathy Trombly of Virginia; brothers Francis (Judy) Trombly of Norwood and Larry (Carole) Trombly of Gouverneur; sisters Marylou Johnston and Pat O’Donnell, both of Heuvelton; his beloved dog Cody; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
