David Howard Post was born on April 18, 1954, to T. Donald and Irene Post in Tyler, Minnesota. He was baptized on August 1, 1954, at Hope Lutheran Church in Ruthton, Minnesota, and later confirmed in his faith on May 17, 1970, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lake Wilson.
David spent his early years with his family on their farms near Pipestone and Woodstock, Minnesota. He attended school in Lake Wilson and graduated from Lake Wilson High School in 1972. As a young man, David learned the carpet cleaning trade by working alongside his father in the family business, Steam Brite Carpet Cleaning.
After moving to Minneapolis, David worked as a security guard at General Mills. Over the years he built a strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit, eventually running his own carpet cleaning business and later working in pest control. In his later years, he worked as a delivery driver for Midwest Delivery.
David had a gentle spirit and a kind heart. He loved his family, his friends, and especially his pets. He enjoyed spending time playing billiards, frisbee golf, watching science fiction movies, and playing video games. Some of his favorite foods were Spaghetti Hamburger Helper, Fisher peanuts, and biscuits and gravy—meals he often enjoyed on Sundays at Bumps with his mother until her passing. David also had a fondness for classic cars, especially the 1965 Plymouth Fury, a car he owned more than once and loved dearly.
David passed away peacefully at his home in Mendota on November 11, 2025.
He is survived by his siblings: Diane Scheremet (Bill), Dale (Delma), Kevin (Karen), and Bryan; his Aunt Lois; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Irene Post, and his brothers Gregory and Bruce.
David will be deeply missed by his special friend Lisa, as well as his long-term friends Marty, Frank, Bob, and their families. He will be remembered for his kindness, gentle nature, and the quiet joy he brought to those who knew him.
