

Donald J. Brenno age 88, of Ogdensburg, NY, passed away peacefully March 1, 2025, at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday (March 4, 2025) at the Oswegatchie Mausoleum with Deacon William O’Brien officiating. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fox & Murray Funeral Home.
Donald was born on July 10, 1936, in Ogdensburg, NY, to the late Frank and Elizabeth (Kiah) Brenno. He attended Ogdensburg Free Academy before joining the United States National Guard. Throughout his career, Donald worked in various positions, including at the St. Lawrence Seaway Highway Department, in construction, and as a Longshoreman. Later, he pursued further training at a mechanic school in Syracuse. In 1963, he opened Brenno’s Garage, which he operated until his retirement at age 75. Donald was married to Beverly O’Brien, but the marriage ended in divorce.
Donald was a proud member of the AMVETs and the Ogdensburg Moose Club. He had a lifelong love for sports, participating in numerous leagues, including baseball, softball, basketball, golf, darts, and pool. He cherished the time spent at his camp with family and friends.
Donald is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Brenno of East Syracuse, NY; his brother, Timothy Brenno and his wife Anna of Tennessee; his sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Gillman of Ogdensburg, Sue Anne (Chris) Duffy of State College, PA, Julie Trotter of Ogdensburg, and Laura (Shawn) Mackey of Ogdensburg; his grandchildren, Jennifer Engel and Heather Engel; his great-grandchildren, Faith Olley, Everly Engel, and Reona Engel; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his son in infancy, James Donald Brenno; his brothers, William, Basil, Joseph, and Thomas Brenno; and his sisters, Dawn Palangie and Gloria Lavery.
