

A Funeral Mass for Douglas J. Mashaw, age 82, a resident of the St. Joseph’s Nursing Home and formerly of Elizabeth Street in Ogdensburg, will be held on Thursday (May 24, 2012) at 9:30am at Notre Dame Church with Rev. Lewis Villarreal officiating. Burial will follow the service at Notre Dame Cemetery.
There will be no public calling hours. Mr. Mashaw passed away (May 22, 2012) at the nursing home. Arrangements are with the Fox & Murray Funeral Home.
Surviving are his sons Jerry Mashaw of Mt. Holly, NC and Dale Mashaw of Ogdensburg; his daughters Lee Mashaw and Sandi Lindy of Ogdensburg, Barbie Cotter & her husband Tom of Chaumont along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews & cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Ann; a grandson Kenneth D. Wing; two brothers Richard & Erwin “Butch” Mashaw and a sister Carol Carter.
Doug was born on April 2, 1930 in Ogdensburg, NY, a son of the late John & Marion (LaFlair) Mashaw. He attended the George Hall School for his education and married Ann Wiggins on September 18, 1948 at Notre Dame Church with Rev. Armand Burnett officiating. During his career he was employed at Standard Shade Roller, Alfred England and the Ogdensburg Catholic School, where he retired from in 1990, as a custodian & bus driver.
He was a member of the Notre Dame Parish, a life member of the National Riffle Association and was an avid hunter, fisherman and NY Yankee fan. He also enjoyed carving wood decoys, spending time with his family and racing homing pigeons.
