

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Notre Dame Church, with Rev. Joseph Morgan officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 12:00pm – 2:00pm & 4:00-6:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home.
Eleanor was born on March 4, 1933, in Ogdensburg, the daughter of the late George and Beatrice (Ramie) Marlow. She received her education at St. Peter’s School and graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1951 and Harper Method Beauty School in 1952. On February 20, 1954, she was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” Stevenson at Notre Dame Church, with Msgr. Robert Giroux officiating. She later continued her education at Mater Dei College with an associate’s degree in 1980 and Empire State Community College with a bachelor’s degree in 1983. She worked full-time in her home from 1952 to 1980 and part-time until 1990 in her beauty shop. Eleanor also worked as a social worker for United Helpers six ICF’s facilities. She later opened and set up the Gate Way Apartments as Program Manager in 1990. She retired from United Helpers in January of 1996. Eleanor & Dick have also operated Stevenson’s camps since 1988.
A lifelong volunteer and active community member, Eleanor belonged to the Hepburn Hospital Auxiliary, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, Ogdensburg Garden Club, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Altar and Rosary Society, Legion of Mary and the St. Lawrence County Hairdresser Association. She was also a devoted volunteer at Notre Dame Church. Eleanor found joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren, volunteer work, being with people, flower gardening, cooking, and traveling.
She is survived by her loving children: Kathleen Havens, Julie (John) Strough, Susan Stevenson, Angela (Steve) Decker, Linda Stevenson & companion Robert Ladoucer, Colleen (Richard) Reed; daughter-in-law Cheri Stevenson; sister Mary Rose (Tom) McCaffery; sister-in-law Jackie Marlow; grandchildren Michelle (Jeremy) McGaw; Heather (Matt) Sovie; Richard Stevenson & companion Shandy Purser; Joshua (Jackie) Havens, Jordan (Jared) Wells, Jillian Havens, Dana (Jordan) Schofield, Christopher Strough, Tyler (Ashley) Decker, Jacquelyn Decker, Michael Coppola & companion Amanda LaValley, Emily Coppola & companion Rob Miles, Nicholas Coppola, Maria (Adam) Houmiel, Travis (Leslie) Reed, Ashley (Curtis) Constance and Connor Reed; great-grandchildren Alexa Kiah, Raya, Briella & Ava McGaw, Izac, Mackezie, Ian, Anderson, Mattie Sovie, Everly Stevenson, Brysen, Kayle and Landyss St. Germain, Addison, Kellen, Trent, Cian & Finnion Havens, Austin & Wyatt Wells, Jace Havens, Felix & Fallon Frary, Hadley & Harlow Schofield, Emma Decker, Destiney & Thomas LaValley, Eloise Coppola, Cambria & Brooks Houmiel, Jordan Reed, Lia & Taya Constance, ; and she was looking forward to being a great-great-grandmother in May.
Eleanor was predeceased by her husband Richard “Dick” Stevenson Sr. on September 4,2008; her son Richard Stevenson Jr. on June 11, 2009; her brother Homer A. Marlow on November 9, 2022; and her sister Anna Jean McDougal on February 1, 2025.
Eleanor would also like to express her love, prayers and thanks to Rev. Joseph Morgan, Dr. Zachary Mashaw and staff, my family, friends, neighbors, campers who became like family, caregiver Tonya Livingston, Candace O’Neil and the Hospice staff for their visits and concerns. Eleanor’s special day of the year was “Grandma’s Christmas” for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A special thanks to my daughters, daughter-in-law, sister and nieces, because of them I was able to stay in my home.
