Funeral services for Elizabeth ”Lizzy” Nelson, age 77 of Spruce Street in Ogdensburg will be held at 11:00am on Monday (April 28, 2025) at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Rob Schirmer officiating. Burial will follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Heuvelton.
Calling hours will be held also on Monday from 10:00am until the time of the service. Ms. Nelson passed away on Thursday (April 24, 2025) at the Spruce Street ICF surrounded by her caregivers.
Lizzy was born on March 12, 1948 in New York City, a daughter of the late Herbert & Vivian (Haber) Nelson. She also had a sister, Cathy Nelson. Lizzy was fortunate to find a longtime friend and advocate, Amber Donnelly who loves her endlessly. She attended Vineland Training School, Wassaic Development Center, Sunmount Development Center and moved to United Helpers care in 1994.
Lizzy loved nothing more than a great cup of coffee, a slice of cake and people watching. She loved sitting in a rocking chair in the sun and supervising everyone that worked with her. So many who loved her dearly will miss her sense of humor and willingness to joke with people.
