Esther was always by the side of her husband, during visits to church members in the hospital, at church or social functions. I cannot think of  Floyd without thinking of Esther.  We had the privilege of being members at their church in Wilsonville, Oregon when our children were young. They made sure everyone felt welcome and they created a family of close knit individuals at that church.  When Floyd donated a kidney to Esther, we all lived through that challenging time with them and were hopeful that kidney would last a lifetime.  Even though Floyd was transferred away from Wilsonville, Esther and Floyd remained a part of our thoughts and prayers as Esther’s health declined. Our hearts go out to the family as they grieve the loss of this beautiful woman we all adore ❤️

Thank you all for sharing this time of celebration and grief with our family.

Where do I start? My mother was the rock of our family. She prayed for us daily, her children and grandchildren, as well as her friends and family. She was a sister, a mother, a daughter, a wife, a partner, and a grandmother to more than just her own grand babies. She taught us to read by spending hours at night reading Little House on the Prairie and the Chronicles of Narnia to us as children and then to our children. She tutored all of my sons and even my best friend, Vanessa’s daughter, Jay, when they were in elementary school. She was firm but fair with discipline. She wanted nothing but the best for all of us and wanted all of us to succeed in our endeavors…even if she didn’t agree or understand what we were doing…like when I joined the military with four young sons after 9/11. She didn’t argue with me…she prayed for me and supported me and my sons when I was deployed to Afghanistan. 

My mother stepped in when I was deployed and bore the brunt of the weight of caring for my sons while their mother was gone. She was mom and grandma, teacher, disciplinarian, and support to my 4 young sons; for that I’ll always be grateful. She taught my sons reading, writing, and the love of art. She passed on her love of all things that grow; her love of roses especially. I get to look in my front yard and see the roses she planted and be reminded of my mother when they bloom and smell amazing. She gifted that love to me and my sons. (I used her roses to create corsages and boutonnières for all of my sons various high school dances over the span of 10 years) 

Mom rarely complained and in her last days we had to ask her if she was hurting because she knew we were doing our best to make her comfortable and she just didn’t complain. She was gracious, kind, and always thought of others.

Such a sweet lady.  Such sweet memories of riding around looking at houses when they came to Lisbon.  For our monthly Sunday I was Esther’s assistant in teaching children’s church. I couldn’t have shared that experience with anyone better.  She wasn’t a super fond hugger but sometimes I wouldn’t give her the option. Bible study’s at their house. I think popcorn has that same chemical that turkey has that makes you sleepy. I would always fall asleep after popcorn when we were watching The Chosen series.  So many memories and so many that are for sure my fondest of them all. So many Sundays I enjoyed both Pastor and Esther at service. I was very fortunate they chose us to spend the last ten years. It’s selfish to think it’s never enough, but that’s what makes it so special. Tears roll down my cheeks as I am writing this but I can’t help but to feel so much gratitude. How I was so blessed to share the last ten years with such a beautiful lady. I texted pastor Floyd and Esther during one of her last struggling days in this world to tell them I love them and I’m praying for them. I was so surprised to get a text back from Esther saying she loved me too. I took a screenshot as I knew this may be the last I hear back, but what better words to hear from someone so dear to my heart. Think of everyone you know and how they impacted your life. Are you a better person for it? Those people that help you be a better person or give you someone to look up to that are a mentor, a mother figure, or just a friend. Esther was all of those.  I love you dear sweet lady and I will forever know you loved me too. ❤️ ❤️

Pastor Floyd and family,
 We are praying for strength and comfort during this difficult time for your family.  Esther was such a wonderful, loving woman who set the example for all to follow, living her life in accordance with Gods plan.  We are sad that she has passed from her temporary home, but have joy knowing she is sitting at the right hand of our Lord.  You are each in my daily prayers. Rest in peace and we know you are flying high with the Angels Esther.

I'm very sorry to see the passing of this sweet lady. She always seemed positive and gave a great smile, when seeing her in Lisbon.

I am so saddened by this news. Essy ( she is my cousin so was her nickname to me) was always so sweet and cheerful. We had many happy times together. I am forever grateful for those memories.

Please allow me to show you a verse in the Bible, Acts 24 : 15 which in short says : “there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous ”. 

Not only that, but gods word promises us in Revelation 21 : 4 that pain and suffering will be no more, “death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.“
