Gary J. Callahan

Funeral services for Gary J. Callahan, age 47 of the Nelson Road Ogdensburg, will be held on Thursday (August 9, 2012) at 11:00am at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Deacon Mark LaLonde officiating. Entombment will be at a later time at Foxwood Memorial Park.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday (August 8, 2012) from 2:00-6:00pm at the funeral home. Mr. Callahan passed away in his sleep on Friday (August 3, 2012).

Surviving is his wife Lisa; a son Travis Callahan & his companion Jessica Wilson of Madrid; a daughter Kara Callahan & her companion Cody Billings of Heuvelton; a brother Donnie Callahan & his wife Karen of Michigan; two sisters Bonnie Gilbert & her husband Chris of Theresa, NY and Mary Kay Lewis & her husband Jim of Lisbon, along with several nieces, nephews & cousins.

Gary was born on April 8, 1965 in Ogdensburg, NY, a son of the late Donald & Norma (Gates) Callahan. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1983, and continued his education at Canton ATC with a major in electronics. On June 2, 1990 he married Lisa A. Hitsman at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Rev. Roland Hart officiating their marriage. Gary was employed as a NYS Corrections Officer with Riverview Correctional Facility, and also worked on the side as an electrician. He was a member and head of the bereavement committee of NYSCOBPA, and a CSEA union member. He enjoyed hunting, traveling, spending time with his family and his pet dogs Paris & Squishy.
