A Funeral Mass and calling hours for Karen M. Moquin, age 76, of Ogdensburg, will be held on Tuesday May 19th beginning with visitation from 9:30am until the time of the funeral mass at 11:00am at St. John’s the Evangelist Catholic Church in Morristown, with Rev. Chris Carrara officiating. Burial will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery in Morristown. Mrs. Moquin passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, March 2, 2026, with her loving husband by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer — a battle she faced not once, but five times, with unwavering strength, grace, and faith.
Karen is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Terry; her sons, David (Ayako) Moquin of Las Cruces, NM and Matthew (Sandra) Moquin of Endicott; her cherished grandchildren, Kelsie Moquin of Grantsville, MD, and Nathan, Emma, Sara, and Samuel Moquin of Endicott; her brother, Edward (Diane) Wilson of Syracuse; her sister, Cheryl (Doug) Hazelton of Ogdensburg; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved her dearly.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Hope Brooks and Joan McDougal; and her brothers, Arthur Wilson and Ronald Wilson.
Born on January 22, 1950, in Ogdensburg, Karen was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Inez E. (Woodbridge) Wilson. She graduated from Morristown Central School and continued her education at the Ogdensburg School of Nursing, earning her nursing license in 1969 — the beginning of a career defined by compassion and dedication.
On September 21, 1968, Karen married the love of her life, Terry L. Moquin of Brier Hill, at the Catholic Chapel at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland, with Rev. Joseph R. Walden officiating. Their marriage was a testament to partnership, resilience, and deep devotion.
Karen worked as a nurse in Florida before returning to the North Country, where she later worked at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center. Nursing was more than a profession to Karen — it was an extension of her caring heart. She gave comfort freely, whether at a patient’s bedside or around her own kitchen table.
When her children were born, Karen devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising them, creating a home filled with warmth, faith, laughter, and steady guidance. She was a proud and active member of the Brier Hill Fire Department Auxiliary, where she received numerous awards and achieved lifetime membership — a reflection of her commitment to serving others.
Karen was a member of the Presbyterian Stone Church and treasured gatherings with family and friends, especially the beloved chicken barbeques that brought everyone together. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures: painting on canvas, tending her flower beds, losing herself in a good book, working crossword puzzles, savoring chocolate, and playing cards with dear friends.
Above all, Karen will be remembered for her strength. Facing cancer five separate times, she met each diagnosis with determination and dignity. She showed her family what courage looks like — not loud or boastful, but steady, faithful, and full of love. Through every trial, her concern remained for others. Her resilience inspired all who knew her.
