Myrna H. Sandburg

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Friday (April 24, 2026) at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Rev. Michael Marzan officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ogdensburg.

Myrna is survived by her children, Brenda Sandburg of Manhattan, NY and Sharon Schneider of Yorktown, VA; her grandchildren, Ryan Schneider of Pittsburgh, PA and Emily Schneider of Charlottesville, VA; two brothers, Larry (Diane) Ryan of Lettington, MI and Terry Ryan of Ogdensburg; and one sister, Lucinda (Thomas) Little of Westport, CT. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Bryant; two sisters, Joan Ryan and Sonya Ryan Northam; and a sister-in-law, Judy Ryan.

Myrna was born on April 14, 1936, in Ogdensburg, the daughter of the late Wesley and Verna (Brown) Ryan. She attended Holy Cross, Ogdensburg Free Academy, and later graduated from the A. Barton Hepburn Hospital School of Nursing. On August 31, 1957, she married Bryant W. Sandburg at Notre Dame Church.

Myrna worked as a medical-surgical and private nurse throughout her career. Her last position was Director of Nursing at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home.

Following her retirement, Myrna did volunteer work with Hospice, the Veteran’s Hospital and Well Children’s Clinic. She was an active member of both the women’s golf league and St. Mary’s Cathedral. She found joy in golfing, gardening, reading and traveling.
