

Philip C. Barse age 72, of Morristown, NY, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY, with his family by his side. Per his wishes, no services will be held. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fox & Murray Funeral Home.
Philip was born August 16, 1952, in Ogdensburg, NY, to the late Philip C. and Ruth (Fisher) Barse. He graduated with the Class of 1971 from Morristown Central School. On September 7, 1973, he married Katherine Crosby in Morristown, with Rev. Barnes officiating.
Philip’s career began as a truck driver for Mayflower Trucking, later working for A.J. Missert Inc., where he drove a daily route to Rochester. For 32 years, he served as the Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds for Morristown Central School District. After retirement from MCS he worked for the Town of Morristown driving a snow plow. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Philip was deeply committed to his community, dedicating over 40 years to the Morristown Volunteer Fire and Rescue, and recently serving as a Fire Commissioner for the town. Philip was also very dedicated to the village of Morristown serving as a Village trustee for many years in the 1980s - 1990s.
Outside of work, Philip enjoyed participating in bowling, softball, and basketball leagues over the years. He was always up for playing penny poker or any other card game. He was always busy working on renovations around his home, a testament to his love of hands-on projects and hard work.
Philip is survived by his childhood sweetheart/ wife of 52 years, Katherine Barse of Morristown; his son, Patrick Barse and his wife Danielle of Morristown; his daughters, Lesley Roberts and her husband Michael of Alexandria Bay, and Kimberly Hance and her husband Alton of Morristown; his brothers, John, Earl, and Fred Barse of Morristown; sisters, Agnes Myott of Antwerp, NY and Jean McLear of Lisbon; his grandchildren, Rebeka, Phebe, Tobe, and Abbe Hance, Rachel Barse, Kurstyn Ward, and Felicity Roberts; a great grandson, Hudson Ward; and several nieces, nephews, in laws and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Philip and Ruth Barse; and a brother, William Barse.
In honor of Philip’s lifelong dedication to his community, memorial contributions may be made to the Morristown Volunteer Fire and Rescue at 200 Morris Street, Morristown, NY 13664.
