A Graveside Service for Vern will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Lake Cemetery in Brassie Corners, with Rev. Rob Schirmer officiating.
Vern was born on July 4, 1952, in Carthage, the son of the late Edward and Ruth (Gerber) Bylow. He graduated from Morristown Central School and spent most of his life doing what he loved most—working the land. As the operator of his dairy farm for many years, Vern was known as a hardworking and dedicated farmer who took pride in caring for his animals and the fields that surrounded his home. For a short time, he also worked as a security guard at Ivy Ridge School.
Vern found great joy in the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he had a deep appreciation for wildlife and nature. He also had a talent for carpentry and could often be found building or fixing something for family or friends. A kind and caring man, Vern was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. His quiet generosity and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
He is survived by his brother, Lyle Bylow of Pleasant Lake; his sister, Joyce Genito of Lowville; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, and numerous friends who will remember his kindness and steady presence.
In addition to his parents, Vern was predeceased by his longtime companion, Tammy Petrie; two brothers, Paul and John Bylow; and four sisters, Betty Leeder, Bertha Brooks, Kay Stott, and Carol Whitmarsh.
Those wishing to honor Vern’s memory may make memorial contributions to a charity of their choice.
