Bonnie Jean Dunn

Bonnie was born July 9, 1928, in Oklahoma City, to parents Eva and Charley Weaver. She spent most of her youth in western Oklahoma, where she attended high school in Sentinel. On June 23, 1945, she married Earnest D. Dunn, with whom she spent 67 very happy years before losing him in 2012. They had two extremely fortunate daughters they chose to warmly and tenderly raise surrounded by love, kindness, and devotion.

Bonnie retired from J.C. Penny in 1984, to start what she called “the best job of my life” – taking care of her grandchildren while their parents worked. She happily hosted family gatherings for birthdays and holidays, welcoming each new member. She enjoyed shopping, gardening, cooking, scrapbooking, and traveling. Bonnie and Earnie volunteered for the Shriners all of the years they were able. Bonnie was active with the Daughters of the Nile and was Worthy Matron of Eastern Star. Bonnie and Earnie practiced faith in God and taught their family to trust in Him who gave them all to each other for which we remain always thankful.

Bonnie is survived by daughters, Linda Dunn and Brenda Dunn Johnson and her husband, Larry; sister-in-law, Carolyn Hassan; grandchildren: Clint Johnson, Vanessa Johnson Lango, Stacy Roberts White, and Jay Roberts; great-grandchildren, Alice and Elias Lango; plus a host of nieces and nephews. All of us have more enriched lives because of her. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

Her daughters extend special gratitude to the Brookdale Village family and to Centennial Hospice for their compassionate and benevolent care of our Mother. Rather than flowers, we ask that each of you reach out to an aging loved one on a regular basis to affirm your appreciation for all they have added to your life.
