

Carol Elaine Brown Overton Ringrose passed at home surrounded by loved ones on February 20th, 2026. Carol was born December 1, 1937, in Guthrie, OK, the youngest child of Edith Lois Votaw Brown and William Earl Brown. She attended Guthrie schools, played clarinet in the band for six years, belonged to Girl Scouts of America and Rainbow for Girls, and graduated from Guthrie High School in 1956. She attended Oklahoma State University, Oklahoma City University, and the University of Central Oklahoma, graduating from UCO in 1998 with a Bachelor's degree. She worked for Oklahoma Furniture Manufacturing Company and various law and accounting firms.
She worked for the University of Central Oklahoma for 28 years, then worked part time at Love's Corporate Office and the Edmond Public Library. In addition to Guthrie, Carol lived in Bryan, TX, Long Beach, CA, Dallas, TX, El Reno, Ada, Edmond, Oklahoma City, and Shawnee. She was an active life-long member of the United Methodist Church, and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, serving in various positions.
In 1958, Carol married Paul Lee Overton, Jr., in Guthrie and they were married for more than 53 years. Paul served in the Navy from 1961-1965 and the Naval Reserve from 1965-1967. He served as a Music Minister and Assistant Pastor in various United Methodist Churches in Oklahoma & Texas until his death in August 2012.
Carol married Dr. Robert E. Ringrose on August 23, 2014, and they lived in Guthrie. They enjoyed traveling, going to the theatre and concerts, and attending grandchildren's school and sporting events. They moved to Oklahoma City in 2018, and Robert died in November 2021 at Heritage Point.
Carol is survived by her son, David Alan Overton and his wife, Paula Reed Overton, Shawnee, OK. Also, Carol Ringrose Alexander and her husband, Kerry, of Oklahoma City, Sharon Ringrose and her husband, Leonard Thomas of Norman, and David Ringrose and his wife, Laura Chamberlin Ringrose of Dallas, as well as seven grandchildren.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband Paul Overton and second husband Dr. Robert Ringrose, parents and three siblings, William Earl Brown, Jr., Lois Brown Frazure, and Geneva Lou Brown Mock.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the missions of the First United Methodist Church, The Pollard Theatre in Guthrie, and Central Oklahoma Humane Society.
A Visitation for Family and Friends will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 13313 North Kelley, Oklahoma City, OK 73131, on February 26, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Graveside Service will take place at Rose Hill Burial Park, 6001 Northwest Grand Blvd, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73118, on February 27, 2026, at 10:00 am.
