
James David Sandoz was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to his loving parents Doris and Norbert O’Reilley Sandoz. Jim’s growing up years were spent in Oklahoma City and Medicine Park, and then in Norman while attending college. He was in the air force ROTC program, the civil air patrol, and also worked at Max Westheimer air field.
In 1976 Jim entered the navy and achieved many distinguished positions, a number of them with top secret clearance. He also earned many awards and medals. Jim was honorably discharged in 1992 after serving over 15 years.
While in the navy Jim married Sharon Wagner and became step dad to her son Kevin. The marriage ended in divorce after 5 years.
After leaving the Navy, Jim worked many years for Life Safety and Co. in Nashville. He was great friends with the owners, and mentored their children as they grew and matured. Many special friendships were made while in Tennessee.
Jim was a member of many organizations and after moving back to Oklahoma City became active with disabled American Veterans, at the Will Rogers Chapter 29, he helped veterans with applications and procedures, and looked forward to the military atmosphere each week.
Jim’s knowledge and memory was extraordinary and could tell a person almost anything they wanted to know about history, military, movies or especially anything that flew in the air or into space.
Jim is survived by his two sisters and one brother, Loree Sloggett (Dick), Martha Oleinick, and Patrick Sandoz (Leone). Also his uncle and aunt, Glenn and Shirley Wright, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He touched many lives, and will be greatly missed.
