Loy Jean Riggs

Loy Jean (Clawson) Riggs was born in Holdenville, Oklahoma. Her father, Homer Clawson was an Army Veteran and worked for The Gainesville Register in Texas. Her mother, Willie Ann Clawson was Homer's high school sweetheart. Loy was one of three children; sister Donna and brother Bill.

Loy earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education from the University of Oklahoma and a Master's Degree in Education from The University of Central Oklahoma. Loy taught Business Office subjects at Classen High School in Oklahoma City. Later she moved to Metro Tech Vo-Tech and served as Director at the South Bryant and Belle Isle Campuses.

Loy was a member of Central Presbyterian Church of Oklahoma City. She was active in various committees and Mobile Meals for many years.

Loy succumbed to complications from the COVID-19 virus on January 2, 2021, with her sons at her side.

Loy was preceded in death by her husband, David Riggs; parents, Homer and Willie Clawson; brother, Bill Clawson; brother-in-law, Samuel Cloer; and niece, Deann (Cloer) Paradise. She is survived by her sister, Donna Cloer; nephew, Keith Cloer and his wife Annette Basaldua; sons, Craig and wife Tracey Riggs and Douglas and wife Kristine Riggs; and beloved and treasured grandchildren, granddaughter RyAnn Riggs and grandson Adam Riggs.
