Lynda Dianne Poe, 67, was born May 9, 1945, and passed away December 14, 2012, after a long battle with leukemia. Lynda was adopted into a Christian home at age three months by Orbin and Mildred Baumgarner, both now deceased. She was raised in OKC and graduated from Northwest Classen. She was a stay-at-home mother and raised six children. After her children were raised, Lynda decided to further her education and received her Master's of Education in Psychology in 1997 from the University of Central Oklahoma.
After she obtained her LPC license, she began her counseling practice. Lynda considered her greatest accomplishments to be her marriage to Jim Poe on June 6, 1992, her children, her grandchildren, and her bachelor and master degrees.
She is survived by her loving husband, James Poe; as well as her brother, Jerry Baumgarner; and her sister, Janice Clymer. Lynda located her biological sister, Francis Harris, of Arkansas; and her brother, Warren Stewart, of Washington. Her son, Terry Ray Zacker, preceded her in death, and her remaining children, Dr. Kathy Johnson, Dr. Stephen Zacker, Michael Zacker (USMC), Shannon Stephens and Stacie Dasovich, reside in OKC. She also has eight grandchildren, Samantha Lewis, Kristin Zacker, Makinsey Zacker, Savannah Zacker, Makenna Zacker, Parker Stephens, Palmer Stephens and Hunter Dasovich.
Lynda had a great love of life. She enjoyed the great outdoors, including fishing and boating at her Lake Tenkiller home, and traveling to new places. She also was a fantastic cook and was loved dearly by her family. She will be missed by all of those whose lives she touched.
A celebration of Lynda's life will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel at 13313 N. Kelley Ave., Oklahoma City, at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2012. Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (www.LLS.org). Also, a very special thanks to Integris Hospital and OU Presbyterian Hospital for their expert and tender care. The family would like to recognize Dr. George Selby and Dr. Jennifer Holter, as well as the staff of the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, for their selfless dedication, comfort and care to Lynda for the past year.
