Born on February 16, 1980, in Springfield, Missouri, Mike lived a fulfilling life as a devoted son, husband, father, brother, and friend. A proud U.S. Army veteran, his service to his country remained a lifelong source of honor and pride.
Mike will be remembered most for his infectious smile, booming laughter, and unwavering commitment to spreading love and kindness. He had a rare gift for making those around him feel seen, heard, and uplifted—leaving a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. Affectionately known for his warm spirit, Mike was a shining light in the lives of so many.
His passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of his family, friends, and countless others whose lives he touched. We ask that you remember him not for how his life ended, but for the remarkable way he lived—with generosity, joy, and compassion.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Sheri Shakibafar (Salls), and their cherished son, Michael “Mikey” Jeffrey Salls. He is also survived by his loving mother, Susan Castillo; his younger brother, Keith McDaniel; his treasured friend, Harley Dickson, whose bond with Mike was like that of a brother; and his uncle, Jeff Cain whom he admired and looked up to. Mike was a proud grandson of Gene Simmons and the late Martha Simmons. He also leaves behind many other family members and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the compassionate ICU staff at Integris Baptist Medical Center for their dedicated care.
Although Mike’s physical presence is no longer with us, his spirit continues to inspire and uplift. May his memory be a blessing, and may we honor his legacy by living with the same love, laughter, and light he so freely gave.
A viewing for Michael will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 13313 North Kelley, Oklahoma City, OK 73131.
