

Rose attended Franklin K Lane High School in Brooklyn. She was the first in the family to attend college and received Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics / Dietetics from Pratt Institute.
Rose married the love of her life Lazurus Sangirardi June 12, 1948. She and “LAZ” have been married for more than 62 glorious years and had two children, Angela Smith and Peter Sangirardi.
In 1970 Rose began teaching at Saint Angela Hall Academy in Brooklyn, where her children had previously attended school. She taught there for nine years. There after she taught at The Mary Lewis Academy (TMLA) in Jamaica New York, where she taught for 15 years, until her retirement. While teaching at TMLA she earned her Masters Degree in Home Economics / Dietetics from St. Johns University.
While at TMLA Rose received many honors, including the following:
-Volunteer Nutritional Consultant to Head Start in 1986.
-Became a Certified Home Economist in 1990.
-Named “Outstanding Catholic School Teacher” by the Brooklyn/Queens Federation of Catholic Secondary Schools.
-Publically recognized by The Mary Lewis Academy for exemplifying the Charism of the Sisters of Saint Joseph and the Philosophy of The Mary Lewis Academy.
Following a successful teaching career, she and Laz retired to Oklahoma to be near their children and grand children.
Rose was and avid reader, played the piano, loved the Brooklyn Dodgers and “Sooner Football”. She was a cancer survivor and battled with Diabetes for 40 years. She was a Devoted Catholic and prayed daily, or more, usually on someone else’s behalf, to Saint Anthony of Padua.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents and lifelong friend Maggie Pescatore.
Rose is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Lazarus Sangirardi, her daughter Angela Smith and husband John Michael Smith, son Peter Sangirardi and wife Nancy , grandchildren Robert Anthony Robinson, Kristin Rose Sangirardi, Joseph Anthony Sangirardi, and great grandson Cameron Anthony, a brother Michael Colaianni, cousin Rosalie Mazzalupo, and Maggie’s sons Michael, Chris, and William Pescatore.
The family would like to thank all of her wonderful care givers, especially Tina, and to thank you for celebrating her life and inspiration with us. She will be dearly missed, forever cherished and never far from us.
