Teresa was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma on August 23, 1948 to Leonard and Lucille Horinek. Being the first and oldest of six children and growing up on a farm gave her the work ethic that she has passed on to her family and many others over the years. She graduated from Newkirk High School and received her Associate Degree in Business from Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa.
She and Dan married in 1968, over 51 years ago and have lived in both Texas and Oklahoma over the years. She has two sons: Mark, married to Libby; and Michael, married to Amy. One of Teresa’s greatest joys was seeing their six wonderful grandchildren: Sarah, Max, Emma, Ollie, Max, and Lucy. Teresa was also very enthused to be able to see and hold her first great-grandchild, Aaliyah, born on the last day of last year. Another joy she had was working in the yard and garden. If anyone ever had a green thumb, it was surely her.
Teresa was noted to be a passionate, devoted, and hard-working woman who loved to serve others while imparting Biblical wisdom with a genuine twist of home-grown practicality. No matter what the call: raising two boys (make that three counting Dan), helping her husband in both business and ministry, leaving it all and moving from Texas to Oklahoma with bold new expectations, or simply put, staying faithful and true to the course of life, Teresa did it all with humility, cheerfulness and steadfastness.
She often referred to the things that may be difficult to do as “can all be done by the grace of God”. The name Teresa means “Harvester”. Everyone who has known her knows that she has harvested a great bounty for God’s kingdom. There are those who call her My Queen, Mom, Grandmom, and Grandmommy.
In addition, there are also many who call her Miss Teresa, Mom, Pastor, and Aunty who celebrate along with us not only here, but also in Mexico, India, Pakistan, and South Africa.
