Virginia L. Hicks

Virginia Lee was born on January 11, 1930 to Elizabeth (Corr) Roberts and Lloyd Roberts. She passed from this life on January 10, 2015. Her mother Elizabeth died a day after giving birth to Virginia Lee. A year later Lloyd married Virginia Caldwell, who loved Virginia Lee as her own and nurtured and reared her to adulthood. They resided in Stroud, Oklahoma. Virginia Lee attended Oklahoma City University and the University of Oklahoma, where she completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Later she also completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Oklahoma Baptist University. She married William D. Hicks on April 6, 1950 and they were married for 64 years. Virginia Lee was a gifted musician who was actively involved in church music ministry, playing the piano and organ for services. She taught elementary school in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

She is survived by her husband and their three children, William Stanley Hicks, Fredericksburg, Texas; Leta Elizabeth Hicks, Davie, Florida; and Phillip Doran Hicks and his wife Teri, Kremlin, Oklahoma. Also surviving are grandsons William Joshua Lindsey-Hicks, Big Springs, Texas, and David Jacob Lindsey-Hicks, Midland, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Leland Roberts.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, January 14, at Memorial Park Funeral Home, Oklahoma City, in the Historical Chapel. Visitation starts at 1:00 and the funeral service will begin at 2:00.
