Walter Neil Myatt, 76, of Edmond, Oklahoma passed away on August 6th, 2025. He was born in Wewoka, Oklahoma on September 3, 1948. Walter graduated John Marshall High School in 1966. Later he joined the US Navy where he served 2 tours in Vietnam, and he was married to Kathy Merriman on August 14th 1971. After leaving the Navy he worked at Tinker Air Force Base as an electrician and electrical supervisor before transitioning into computer system analysis, where he spent the majority of his professional life. He retired after 40 years of dedicated service.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 4938, member of 2578 Edmond Elks, assistant scout master of Troop 77, and an ordeal member of the Order of the Aarow. He had a passion for family, helping others, coaching girls softball, boys baseball, scouting, camping, hunting, and fixing things – if anything was broken he would fix it. He also loved telling stories.
He was preceded in death by his parents, LeeRoy and Margaret Myatt; and his brothers, Bill Myatt and Tommy and his wife Frankie Myatt.
He is survived by his wife Kathy Myatt; Children, Angela McKenzie, Kara Bowles, and David Myatt; Grandchildren, Meagan Rogers, Courtney Emerson and husband Nehemiah, Kayla Lindsey, Brady Bernard, and Tyler Bowles; Great-grandchildren, Landon, Cassidy, Corey, Paisley, Nolan, Zara, and Zayn; Sister, Treva and her husband Paul Davis; As well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A visitation for Walter will be held Thursday, August 14, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 13313 North Kelley, Oklahoma City, OK 73131.
A funeral service will occur Friday, August 15, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
