

Chely was born in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba, on December 31, 1938, the second of 2 daughters to Roberto Gil Lugo and Elvira Torres. Chely fell in love with and married Edgardo (Gary) T. Rey Riveron on December 12, 1957. He was in the United States Air Force and when stationed at McCoy AFB in Orlando, Florida, Chely joined him there in 1958. Her 5 sons were born in Florida and she lived there until her death.
Chely was a homemaker for most of her married life. She worked for over 15 years in the cafeteria at Killarney Elementary School in Winter Park, Florida where she loved feeding children. Chely was head librarian at the senior living facility where she lived for many years and was also part of a billiard team, which she enjoyed very much.
Chely is survived by four of her five children, one of them (Edgar) preceding her in death: Robin, Roger, Renato, and Joshua.
She is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Christopher, Cynthia, Luz Maria, Nicholas, Natasha, Michael, Arianna, Ashley, Geovanni and Sergio; and 3 great-grandchildren: Haley, Kayleece, and Ramiro.
Chely was a warm and loving light in a dark world, always positive and smiling. She always helped others and was grateful for each day of life. When asked about the words that best described her life, she said: blessed, contentment, faith, and love. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
A visitation will be held at Baldwin Fairchild at Chapel Hill, located at 2420 Harrell Road, Orlando, FL 32817, on December 2, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
The funeral service will follow at the same location from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm.
A graveside service will be conducted at Chapel Hill Cemetery, also at 2420 Harrell Rd, Orlando, FL 32817, from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm on the same day.
