

Born in Juncos, Puerto Rico, “Fela” (as she was affectionately known), moved to Brooklyn, New York in 1971 where she met, married and lived for 19 years with her beloved husband Jose Calderon before relocating with her family to Orlando, Florida in 1990. Strict and firm yet extremely loving and kind, She always made everyone who she came into contact with feel welcomed. She loved to cook, and had a green thumb, which showed in the way she planted flowers and vegetables both during her years in Brooklyn and later on in Orlando. From birthday parties and family get togethers full of laughter to the adventures of going fishing and digging for clams. A lover of all pets with a special love for birds (parakeets and cockatiels). She will forever be remembered by her family and friends both near and far.
She is survived by her Children Mirta Diana Vandessppooll (Diany), Juan Nerin Vandessppooll, Angel Basilio Vandessppooll, Sally Calderon-Fontanez, Selene Calderon-Johnson. She is also survived by her Grandchildren Frank Rivera (Panchito), SiFrederick Rivera-Mitchell (Freddy), Frankie Rivera Jr. (Frankie Baby), Maritza Rivera, Amy Vandessppooll, Juan Nevin Vandessppooll Jr., Angel Felix Vandessppooll, Yajaira Vandessppooll (JaJi), Jovani Garcia, Thanis Yvette Cotto, Gladys Green, Aisha Vandessppooll, Amy Vandessppooll, Juan Angel Vandessppooll, Jean Dewitt Vandessppooll, Naylet Vandessppooll, Eneles Johnson, Elizabeth Johnson, Elise Johnson, Shantel Fontanez, Derick-Anthony Fontanez, Dezandra Fontanez, Jose Antonio Cotto, Johnny Cotto, Julio Cotto, Luis Cotto. Great Grandchildren: Dezante Vandessppoll, Nevin Vandessppoll, Noah Vandessppoll, Nico Vandessppoll, Nysa Vandessppoll, Keisha Laguer Vandessppooll, Joseline Laguer Vandessppooll, Laleshka Gelpi Vandessppooll, Vanelyz Vandessppooll, Armondo Pinder III, Frank Rivera Jr., Bria Knight, Giovanni Rivera, Leonardo Rivera, Nikolas Rivera and Great Great Grandchild Lively Vandessppooll.
A Prayer and Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, January 13th, from 11:00am-1:00pm at Iglesia Casa de Restauracion Emmanuel, 1600 Park Manor Drive Orlando, Fl 32825. Followed by burial at Chapel Hill Cemetery located at 2420 Harrell Rd. Orlando, Fl. 32817
