Frances Marie Kimmel

Frances M. Kimmel (Fran), 87, of Orlando, FL passed away Tuesday, July 4th, 2023, and is at peace, following a brief illness. Born in Parker, SD to Christian and Kathleen Anderson on June 19, 1936, she was the middle child in her family with an older brother Edward and younger brother Dennis. She moved to Saint Paul, MN, and married Harold J. Kimmel on July 28th, 1958, and together they started a family, which would grow to 5 children. The family moved to Tampa, FL in 1969 and since Fran’s children were growing older, she was able to work outside of the home and took a part time job at the JC Penney catalog department and helped run the front end of her husband’s new business “Quill Instant Printing”. In 1979, the family moved to Miami, FL and Fran went back to school and received her Associate in Arts degree with honors from Miami Dade College and went on to teach English to students. Fran then landed a job in the admissions department of the VA Hospital where she eventually retired. After retiring Fran traveled with friends Wilma and Doris. She ultimately moved to Orlando, FL to be closer to her family.

She enjoyed reading, watching TV, especially golf, figure skating, the Animal Channel Network, and the comedy show “The Big Bang Theory” (Sheldon was her favorite on the show), she also enjoyed spending time with her grandson Zackery, and taking her dog “Sweetie”, her faithful companion, for long walks.

Fran was an amazing, beautiful, intelligent, funny, strong, and stubborn woman who was a fighter till the end. She will be missed by many, including her children, daughter, Gloria Kimmel of Ft Lauderdale, FL; son, Ronald Kimmel (Jean) of Maryville, TN; daughter, Karin Burgun (Dan) of Orlando, FL; daughter in law, Tina Kimmel and grandson Zackery Kimmel of Orlando, FL; son, Robert Kimmel of Orlando, FL; and her extended family including nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends with whom she loved and enjoyed spending precious time with.

Fran was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Harold Kimmel, and son Kenneth Kimmel
