

Born on April 3, 1943, to Mercedes Gonzalez Figueroa and Ramon Gonzalez Brignoni, she grew up in the beautiful island of Vieques, Puerto Rico and St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. After high school, she attended Antillean Adventist University, then began her professional career at the Virgin Island Department of Safety in St. Thomas. Hortensia continued her career with the U.S. Attorney’s Office and retired as the Administrative Officer with the U.S. Marshal Service. She dedicated over 35 years to the U.S. Marshal Service, where she retired as Administrative Officer, receiving numerous awards for her dedicated service.
Hortensia met her beloved husband Edward (Eddie) LaBorde in high school. Their lives took them in different paths after high school, but fate reunited them, and they spent many loving years together until his passing.
With her loving and infectious personality, Hortensia was a beacon of warmth, known for bringing family and friends together through her passion for cooking, entertaining, gardening, crafts, and fashion. She adored her loyal dog Prince, whom she cared for deeply.
Survived by her daughters Wanda Martinez and Maria Martinez, brothers Victor Gonzalez Figueroa and Roman Gonzalez Figueroa; sisters Maria Gonzalez Figueroa, and Nohemi Gonzalez Figueroa; and her cherished, loyal dog Prince Kinley, Hortensia's memory will be forever cherished by those she loved. In addition, special mention to the many family members that helped during her lengthy illness: Wilfredo (Willie) Rivera, Jared Rivera, Luis (Luichy) Rivera, Elisha Contreras, Numi Chokr, Vanessa Rivera, Ricardo Contreras. Also, her special and dear friends which she considered as family: Louie McKinney, Judy Mckinney, Warren Lewis, Norma Miranda, Staisy Maldonado, and Lorens Maldonado. She had also many other family members, too many to mention, that she loved and she will forever be in their hearts. Hortensia was predeceased by her father Ramon Gonzalez Brignoni, mother Mercedes Corina Figueroa Rivera, and husband Edward (Eddie) LaBorde.
A devout member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, she actively supported charitable organizations, including the Carters Report Inc, 3ABN, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and Child Impact International.
The homegoing service to celebrate her life will be held on March 6, 2024, at Baldwin Fairchild at Chapel Hill, 2420 Harrell Road in Orlando, FL.

• Service is 11 AM to 12 PM.
• Burial 12 PM to 1 PM.
