After the Bay of Pigs invasion, he left La Habana, Cuba and seeked refuge in the United States. He relocated to New Orleans, Louisiana, where he and resided for twenty years, worked as machinist, and fell in love with Cajun cuisine.
In 1982, Kiko left the Bayou State for the Sunshine State to be near his mother and sisters. After he relocated to Florida, he joined the cast at Walt Disney World where worked until his retirement in 2002.
After his retirement Kiko spent his time collecting stamps and travelling to Pamplona, Spain to visit his extended family.
Kiko is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Teresita Hernandez. He is survived by his daughter Susie (Bob) Troendle; grandchildren Ryan and Erin Troendle; his loving companion Vicenta Rodriguez; sisters Maria De Rojas and Sister Silvia De Rojas, R.A.; brother-in-law Ramon Hernandez; several nieces and nephews.
