

She was born in Kiryu City, Japan on November 27, 1933. At 22 years old she married Harold E. Kumm in Tokyo, Japan on June 1, 1956. They came stateside where she became a naturalized American citizen on June 29, 1960.
His army career took them to Kansas, Germany, France, Texas, California, and eventually Florida. She had so many Japanese and American friends throughout her lifetime. She enjoyed playing pinochle, going bowling, having lunch and playing Mahjong with her Japanese friends, and having lunch and playing Bunco with her American friends.
Our family get-togethers will always be remembered for her cooking, playing pinochle, ping pong, and volleyball. Her husband of 40 years passed away on May 17, 1997.
Later in life as her Alzheimer progressed, she enjoyed doing her jigsaw puzzles and online games, Solitaire and Unblock Me (a strategy game she excelled at).
She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Nancy (Tommy) Smith, Connie (Robert) Rodriguez; grandchildren and spouses, Michael (Christyl) Smith, Danielle (Shane) Simonson, Raquel (Brendan) Richmond, Steven Rodriguez; and great-granddaughters, Sydney Smith and Laurel Richmond. In Japan, she is survived by brother, Hiroshi Miyachi, and sister, Taiko Takada, and their families.
She will always be remembered for her smile...
